Art is the Icing on the Cake for Interior Design-PART 1

I recently ventured to 2 Art openings with 2 delightful and artistic friends. Yes there is a theme going on here. I will have 2 blogs, Part 1 and Part 2 posted back to back.
The first was at the +Carriage Barn Arts Center-Spectrum 2013 at the Waveny in New Canaan, CT. This exhibit runs till May 24th.  The barn is named for what it was originally. Having a daughter who rides horses and, having been in many barns I was in awe and amazed that they could take a place and turn it into this  beautiful and well designed interior to show off art work. There was a multitude of work from scuplture, oils, mix media and, a collage of clocks and time peices. It is so beautiful to see how people create with such passion.

This particular peice below won 1st price. It is so dynamic with all the swirling oil colors, it is as if the strokes of paint were living and breathing trying to tell you a story.

This girl is looking intensly at the on looker or, just past you and gazing at someone or something else? What are your thoughts. What a beautiful face and stunning eyes.

This sketch reminded me of the ones I use to do as a child scratching off the black crayon to reveal a colorful sublevel. A must see for all the fine detail of sketching. Would you have the patience to draw this? This artist has incredible persistance.

How dynamic this peice of sculpture is. Her hair and flowing dress are significantly weighted rocks and, to be created in such a fleeing free spirited movement is beautiful. The wonderful artist pictured  with his prize peice.
